What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energy healing practice that works with universal life force energy. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei (靈), meaning "universal" or "spiritual wisdom", and Ki (氣), meaning "life force energy" — the energy flowing through all living things. During a Reiki session, the practitioner acts as a channel for this energy, allowing it to flow to where it is most needed.
Reiki activates the body's parasympathetic nervous system — our natural “rest and restore” state. Many of us spend much of our lives in a state of stress and “fight or flight,” leaving us feeling tense, anxious, and overwhelmed. Reiki gently encourages the body and mind to relax. From this place of balance, we are often better able to process, integrate, and move through life's experiences physically, emotionally, and mentally.

How does Distance Reiki work?
Your session takes place through a Zoom call, allowing us to connect before, during, and after the Reiki session. At the beginning, I will take time to listen to what you would like to share, understand your intentions. You will then be able to relax comfortably in your own space while I guide the Reiki session.
Though we may not be in close physical proximity, Reiki is not limited by distance. Energy transcends time and space, allowing it to be sent and received no matter where you are in the world.
Just as radio waves or Wi-Fi signals travel invisibly, Reiki works through intention and connection. Distance sending is also one of the four Reiki symbols, and this technique is incorporated into your session to bridge mental, emotional, and physical healing across any distance. During a distance session, I tune into your energy field and work to support release, balance, and relaxation.
Many people experience sensations such as warmth or tingling, emotional shifts, deep relaxation, or a sense of peace during distance Reiki, just as they may during an in-person session. I will remain present and available to support you throughout the session.

What will happen during the session?
Each session begins with a brief consultation where we explore your intentions for the session and how I can best support you. Please share anything that may be on your mind or anything you would like me to be aware of before we begin.
Please find yourself a comfortable space lie down. I will guide the session intuitively, using Reiki hand placements that feel most appropriate for your needs. Throughout the session, I will remain present and connected with you, and you are welcome to communicate with me if you need anything or would like to share how you are feeling.
You might experience sensations such as warmth, deep relaxation as well as shifts in your thoughts and emotions. You may also fall asleep during Reiki. This is a natural response to entering a deeply relaxed state.
At the end of the session, I will gently bring you back into the space and we will spend some time reflecting on your experience. You are welcome to share any sensations, emotions, observations, or insights that arose during the session. I will also share my observations from the session, including areas where I may have sensed blockages, tension, or imbalance.
After your session, I recommend drinking plenty of water as Reiki usually kickstarts a detox. You may wish to take the rest of the day at a slower pace and notice how you feel in the hours following your session.

How many sessions do I need?
A series of at least three sessions is recommended. The first session kickstarts the process, while subsequent sessions supports continued relaxation, balance, and self-awareness over time.
Reiki is not a one-time solution or a quick fix. Your own willingness to reflect and support your intentions is an important part of the process. The more you are willing to engage with your own wellbeing and personal growth, the more meaningful the practice will become.
We can always discuss the number of sessions that is most supportive for you based on your needs, intentions, and where you are in your journey.

-
A bolster or pillow under your knees to support your lower back.
-
A blanket nearby in case you feel cool during the session.

Can Reiki be used alongside medical treatment?
Reiki is used alongside conventional medical care as a complementary practice to support overall wellbeing. It is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and you should continue any treatment prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Reiki is being offered as a complementary therapy in Australian hospitals and healthcare settings. You can read more about Reiki in Australian healthcare here: https://www.australianreikiconnection.au/post/reiki-in-australia-today
